Welcome to the International Gundog League Retriever Society (IGL). Formed in 1900. The International Gundog League now has 85 Societies/Clubs that are affiliated. Each year stakes are held in order to qualify for the prestigious annual Retriever Trials Championships
The International Gundog League Retriever Society and its Committee are extraordinarily grateful to the many Hosts who have shown the Society exceptional generosity in inviting the Society to hold the annual Retriever Trials Championship on their varied and challenging grounds.
IGL Spectator Registration
The IGL Committee has decided to implement a Spectator Registration Scheme for the 2018 Retriever Championship. This is at the request of the host estate, Packington, and also on the advice of the Police. The aim is to ensure better management of this prestigious event as it becomes ever more popular and also to minimise the risk of potential disruption.
What this means is that spectators must register in advance of the Championship in order to enter the ground during the three days of the event. There will be no entry without prior registration.
In order to be placed on the register you will need to be:
i. an existing member of the IGL: or
ii. a member of three or more of the Affiliated Gundog Societies; or
iii. have your application to attend the Championship supported by two IGL members or two Kennel Club Field Trial Panel Judges or an IGL member and a Kennel Club Field Trial Panel judge.
In addition to the above, approval of applications will be at the Committee’s discretion.
Full details of how to apply will be published in due course on this website and IGL members will also be notified by email.
We believe that a full gallery of spectators is an important part of the Championship so please help us to implement this scheme.
The IGL is delighted that the following judges have agreed to officiate at the 2018 Retriever Championship:
Mark Bettinson, Jim Gale, Les McLean & Barry Taylor.
This is to be held at the Packington Estate, West Midlands on 3rd, 4th & 5th December.
The 2019 Retriever Championship will be held at the Glen Almond Estate, Perthshire.
