Welcome to the International Gundog League Retriever Society (IGL). Formed in 1900. The International Gundog League now has 85 Societies/Clubs that are affiliated. Each year stakes are held in order to qualify for the prestigious annual Retriever Trials Championships
The International Gundog League – Retriever Society and it’s Committee are extraordinarily grateful to the many Hosts who have shown the Society exceptional generosity in inviting the Society to hold the annual Retriever Trials Championship on their varied and challenging grounds.
The 2016 International Gundog League Retriever Championship is returning to the Ampton Shooting Estate, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk from 6th to 8th December 2016 by kind permission of Mr Peter Rushbrook and Box Tree Game Supplies
We are very grateful to our principal sponsors, Skinner’s Pet Foods, Isuzu UK, and the Kennel Club, for supporting the event and we look forward to a really successful Championship.

IGL RETRIEVER CHAMPIONSHIP 2016
The draw for the IGL Retriever Championship 2016 will take place this coming Sunday evening and will be posted on here once it has been emailed to all competitors. There are currently 60 qualifiers with two not competing. There is one more 2 day Open Stake to come – the Arun and Downland – and one more 1 day Open Stake – the North Devon. So we could have 61 dogs running!
The Championship is taking place on 6/7/8 December at the Ampton Shoot, Great Livermere, Bury St Edmunds, postcode IP31 1JP. There will be plenty of IGL signs out and IGL helpers in red tabards will assist with parking. Spectators must NOT park in the competitors car park. Please note that we are moving off at 8am on all three days and everyone will be asked to gather round on the first day at 7.45am.
My understanding is that viewing on day one may be limited on occasion. Please, if you are spectating, be patient. We will do our very best to keep you informed and where it is possible to put you where you can see, we will.
There will be nowhere to buy food or drink at the meet but programmes will be available for sale at £5 each. There will be toilet facilities in the car parks and near the marquee.
I am starting to feel excited. Months of hard work and planning are almost complete and at some stage on Thursday 8th December we will have a new Retriever Champion. I am looking forward to three days of fantastic dog work and to seeing many friends and retriever enthusiasts at what I am sure will be a tremendous Retriever Championship.
